Turning the Space Under the A Train into a Pedestrian-Friendly Cooridor

Underneath the elevated A train that runs through the Rockaway peninsula, there is a redundant/dangerous road and general conditions of neglect. This would be an excellent area to create a multi-use pedestrian corridor. Such an effort would not only increase public safety, but would create a great uniting thread through different neighborhoods. Rockaway Waterfront Alliance has been working on this effort for sometime (https://www.rwalliance.org/rwa/projects/project_underway/), but we should do more as a community to make this a reality!

Actually a really cool idea. Trying to think of what the riddles might be like.. It would definitely have to be a light weight operation (as might be guerilla-ish). Any ideas?

I want to dive more into this later, but apparently a very similar project was done in New Orleans - https://nextcity.org/features/view/a-divided-neighborhood-comes-together...
